Falling in Place is one month old and only just beginning…last night we released the TWO music video. Two is a track that is deeply personal to me. I went balls to wall on this song, synthesizing & designing every sound, nesting signal chains within signal chains. And then in making this video, I found it so interesting how the making the tiniest changes in the timing of the video clips would change my perception of the music, drawing focus to different parts of the groove.

This song feels very pale green and red with hints of blue. It reminds me of my headspace moving to New York at age 18. This song is the feeling of walking around Manhattan alone at night, feeling dissociated in the chaos of it all. It’s is about duality in identity. I remember my teachers would say, “just be yourself, just be you”. This whole idea of “me”— I couldn’t wrap my brain around it. How do I know what is “me” separate from my experiences, memories, culture, upbringing, food, medicine, day-to-day environment? Where does the self begin, and where does learned behavior & environmental influence come into play- the classic question of nature vs. nurture. So this song is recklessly sorting through all of these dueling parts—yin vs yang, light vs dark, unity vs separateness, collective vs individual, internal vs external, wave vs particle.
